| Thankfully yes and there not that expensive.
Well I've just had to change the ECU coolant sensor for the exorbitant figure of £13.49 including vat.
God only knows what it will be on the Range Rover. |

| That's a coincidence Colin, the temp sensor on the Jeep needed replacing too, not the one for the temp gage, the one that sends the signal to the ECU, on cold mornings at start-up she was idling slow, I got a new sensor and checked the resistance before fitting it, the reading was 240 ohms, I checked the old one when I removed it and it was 345 ohms, now on cold start-up she's idling at 1200 rpm. |

| Did you have to get it imported, or was it cost-a-fortune? |

| I love those Jags, especially in black.
Is that the V8 model. If it is just make sure you get it serviced regularly, as they throw the timing tensioners out, and it is a £1,500 plus job to sort out.
If upon start-up you notice a rattling sound from your the engine, or unusually rough running, turn off the engine immediately and DO NOT restart it. Have the car towed to a Jaguar specialist service facility for a full inspection. Do not even think about driving the car.
What happens is, as the tensioners wear, the cam chains can become loose and eventually jump one or two teeth on the cam sprockets – usually on a cold start. If the chain jumps one tooth, rough running will be experienced. If it jumps more than one tooth, the valves on one block will contact the pistons, resulting in total engine failure. |

| sounds nasty yeah thats the v8 one - bought it a year old with 700 on the clock for less than half price - so still got two years warranty as well - went in to get a v6 s-type ( i had one a coupe of years ago and missed it ) - saw the sovereign and fell in love - drives as good as anything ive driven before - so pleased with it...ive actually not minded getting stuck in traffic for the last two weeks! Its so quiet and smooth at moment ill notice any little rattle - i nearly took it back to jags last week cos i heard a squeak coming from the interior - it was my coffee cup !! - i would have a looked a right tool marching into the showroom ha |

| It more than sounds nasty, it is very nasty as the whole engine has to be rebuilt.
Did you buy it from a Jaguar dealership? Because if you did ask, then what timing tensioner is installed in it. You see at some point Jaguar introduced a third-generation metal-based tensioner kit (I will look up the year for you later) which helped the situation, but didn't fully cure the problem. The first and second generation were plastic tensioners.
Concerning the Range Rover, they only come as a five seater, if you want a seven seater you would have to go for either the Land Rover Discovery 3 or the Defender. |
