Hi

To everyone on this site, I have been invited to join this site by losos.
May I just take a moment of your time and expain a little about my self and what I do.

My name is Lorraine Duffy and I am a registered Veterinary Nurse and Lecturer. I own and run a unique pet serviice to pet owners. I run regularworkshops in a variety of subjects ranging from pet first aid to clinical nutrition. The reason why I offer these workshops are to enhance our skills as pet owners and to promote animal welfare.

I am NOT A MULTINATIONAL company, it is just me and I have not joined this site to promote my service, what I would like to do on this site if it is possible is to ask the members a question. As part of my drive to encourage and enhance animal welfare I am looking to offer correspondence courses developed by myself in 2009 and I would like to aim one of my courses to pet owners. With this is mind, I would like the members:

a) would they be interested in completing a pet owners correspondence course?

b) What subjects would they be interested in within the course ie anatomy, first aid and so on

c) Do you think running a revison workshop alongside the course be beneficial

I would very much value your comments and suggestions, as I am very keen to get this course right and to make sure it contains all the right ingriedients to make pet owners more confident and responsible pet owners.

Just in case you are wondering if I own any pets, I have an asbo labrador called Amber and an ancient moggy called Oscar!!

Many thanks for your time Laughing

Hi and a big welcome to the 'Dog Community' forum.

I do believe that anything which can help pet owners to understand their animals and to promote a better life for them must be worthwhile and i admire people like you and Kaos who spend time teaching people.

I will think carefully about your questions and reply in due course.

Have been thinking about your questions and I think my answers would be:-

a) Yes, based on what I learned on the first aid course I would be interested, but I'm not typical because I am so far from civilisation Laughing

b1) Diet & nutrition (And how to get fussy dogs to eat well!!)
b2) Grooming
b3) First aid (But bear in mind I have already done your basic coarse)

c) A revision workshop might be difficult because corresspondance students will likely be spread all over the country and even further afield (e.g. me Rolling Eyes )

I will send you a PM as well tonight.
