My copy of Newf News arrived today and there was an article about Lord Byron the 18th century poet and writer who owned several Newfoundland dogs including the most well known - Boatswain.

Anyway what amused me was this:-

" It was the custom in those days to send a lock of hair to ones lover (And Lord Byron apparently had many of those Laughing ) some of these have survived to the present day and have had a DNA analysis done on them"

It turns out that they were all hairs cut of his dog Boatswain Rolling Eyes

Maybe he had so many lovers that he was afraid of going bald if he used his own hair Rolling Eyes
